History

Digi International was founded in 1985 as DigiBoard. The company went public as Digi International in 1989 and is traded on the NASDAQ National Market under the symbol DGII. Digi employs more than 400 people worldwide and is headquartered in Minnetonka, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis.

Products

Digi International, the leader in Connectware, makes device networking easy by developing products and technologies that are cost-effective and easy to use. With over 20 million ports shipped worldwide, Digi has been offering the highest levels of performance, flexibility and quality since 1985.

Their extensive range of products, including embedded device servers, external device servers, terminal servers, secure console servers, multiport serial, Universal Serial Bus (USB) and microprocessors, enable a virtually unlimited number of devices or users to be connected locally or remotely to networks, multi-user systems and the internet. Target vertical markets for Connectware products include retail/point-of-sale (POS), industrial automation, security, traffic management and power utilities.

• Device Servers
  Device servers quickly and easily turn a previously isolated device with a serial port into a fully collaborative network component. The Digi One™ Family of device servers provides a comprehensive and flexible single port solution for your serial connectivity needs. Digi Connect™ embedded solutions offer an easy way to add network connectivity to new products, without expensive and time-consuming design changes. For added flexibility, the PortServer TS Family offers 802.11b wireless, hardened and MEI (EIA-232/422/485) versions.
  
• Terminal Servers
  The versatile PortServer® Family provides multiport serial-to-Ethernet connectivity for applications requiring two to 64 serial ports. Digi CM™ solutions offer secure out-of-band console management, allowing remote access for network administrators from anywhere, and at any time, even when the network is down. Digi’s patented RealPort® and patent-pending Encrypted RealPort technology allow users to place serial devices anywhere on a network, without changing critical application software and without sacrificing security.
  
• Multiport Serial Cards
  Our multiport serial card product line, including the original DigiBoard®, is the number one selling serial card product line in the world. Acceleport®, Digi Neo® and ClassicBoard™ solutions offer the highest level of operating system support, serial port capacity, I/O performance, transmission distance, environmental tolerance and upgradeability for all of your application needs.
  
• Universal Serial Bus (USB)
  Inside Out Networks, a Digi International Company, is the leader in enterprise USB connectivity. Out-of-the-box (external) connectivity solutions include USB-to-serial, USB Over IP®, environmental monitoring, USB PlusPower, wireless and more. The flagship Edgeport Family provides the 70+ million USB equipped PCs and workstations in use today with the most cost-effective, easy-to-use solution available for COM port expansion.
  
• Microprocessors
  NetSilicon, a Digi International Company, offers a family of high-performance NET+ARM microprocessors with the NET+Works® suite of advanced networking development tools and software. These complete system-on-chip solutions are designed to balance performance and flexibility in a cost-effective manner for a variety of embedded networking applications.

Digi sells its products through a global network of distributors, systems integrators, value added resellers (VARs) and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Internationally, Digi sells and markets it products through 180 distributors in more than 65 countries.
